Karl Scheucher is Chief Engineer at Modtech Corp., a
Willoughby, OH company with a revolutionary vision for the
electric vehicles of our future. He has worked with
Modtech’s OEM clients developing products and manufacturing
processes since 1980. Modtech’s roster of clients includes
larger corporations such as TRW, British Telecom, Motorola,
Milwaukee Electric Tool, and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
At the other end of the spectrum, Modtech has helped launch
many startup companies such as ABL Engineering and Orion
Research.
Scheucher led the efforts at Modtech to develop the world’s
first lithium-ion based cordless tool system
introduced in 2005 by Milwaukee Electric Tool. This system is
highly successful being sold worldwide under various brands
such as V28, V18, AEG, and Rigid lithium-ion tools. Presently,
Karl leads Modtech’s development of a Scalable Intelligent
Power Supply technology platform that is the foundation for a
family of proprietary, highly portable power products spanning
applications from mobile networking to the aforementioned
electric vehicle. Known as SIPS, this technology platform
leverages Modtech’s extensive experience in embedded controls
and lithium-ion battery technologies.
Karl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from
Harvard College and a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering
from Case Western Reserve University. He is the author of
numerous publications in diverse areas including artificial
organs, electronic instrumentation, and signal processing for
atmospheric radar applications. Holding ten (10) U.S. patents,
Karl is very busy developing and prosecuting many new U.S. and
international patent applications pertaining to Modtech’s
emerging SIPS technology.
